THE POSITION
We're searching for an enthusiastic independent Duty Manager, who enjoys working in a fast-paced workplace and an international team.
As a Duty Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel during your shift. You will oversee the work of the front desk and food and beverage teams, and ensure that guests have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to work well under pressure. At Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam North Riverside, we have 438 rooms and 2 meeting rooms on the 1st floor. Our restaurant, Express Café & Bar Noord, is located on the ground floor of the hotel and has 45 covers. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner for our regular guests as well as for our groups. To enhance guest experience, we work closely together with local suppliers from Amsterdam Noord.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As Duty Manager, you will be:
- Performing walk-through inspections of the hotel, and filling in duty reports for every shift.
- Assuring that the hotel's appearance is up to IHG's brand standards.
- Monitoring meeting rooms for proper setup to assure guest satisfaction.
- Following up with guests to ensure satisfaction.
- Ensuring that the rooms inventory is in balance and checking VIP rooms.
- Maintaining contact with other departments to relate different issues of concern.
- Reviewing all arrivals and departures noting any special requests or challenges.
- Making sure all shifts are covered as scheduled, arranging cover as necessary.
- Following established hotel policies and being knowledgeable of all fire and emergency procedures.
- Handling guest situations as they arise in a calm and professional manner.
- Ensuring the safety and security of all guests and colleagues.
- Performing basic maintenance duties during the absence of the maintenance department.
- Assisting in cross-department operations if needed.
- Participating in statutory trainings as required by company policy and procedures.
- Taking on any other relevant tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager or Front Office Manager in an efficient and accurate manner.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- MBO/HBO or equivalent level of education;
- At least 1+ years of experience within a similar role; experience in Holiday Inn Express hotels is an advantage;
- Excellent knowledge of English language in speaking and in writing, Dutch language is a plus;
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Experience in guiding and developing teams.
