We are looking for a passionate and inspiring IT Chapter Lead for the department of international payments with extensive experience in Java/Spring development.
The Team
Your Chapter consists of fellow engineers working in several squads within the IT Area. Together with your Chapter, you guarantee the required knowledge within the IT Area. You do this by jointly investing in
knowledge of the Java and DevOps fields, for example by:
- Organize knowledge and demo sessions
- Attend relevant and/or interesting conferences in your field together with the Chapter
- Working together with your Chapter on relevant IT issues within the bank (with the aim of knowledge development)

The DevOps squads within ING Bank use the Scrum methodology and a far-reaching Agile Way-of-Work. This puts ING Bank at the forefront of the working method used for designing, building, and testing applications, as well as the process of commissioning, managing and ultimately decommissioning applications. In this way, ING Bank is continuously optimizing its services to its customers and further strengthening its leading position in the market. In your position, you therefore have a direct influence on customer satisfaction at ING and, of course, you are expected to put the customer's interests first in all your work.
As an engineer, you will work in squad Horizon. This squad consists of 4 members and is based in both Amsterdam and Leeuwarden. The squad is responsible for offering front-end capabilities for both customers and engineers for Collections NL arrears processes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Engineer you contribute to the development and maintenance applications within Collections NL.
- Designing, developing, and maintaining applications
- Resolving incidents
- Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment in Azure DevOps
- You have direct contact with the users to convert complex business requirements into IT solutions
- You devise ways to make solutions scalable & future fit
- Sharing knowledge with and training less experienced colleagues
- In addition to substantive IT engineering tasks, you act as a coach of a Chapter (team) of engineering colleagues.
- You are responsible for all HR aspects associated with stimulating, motivating, and coaching the experts in your Chapter.
- As a Chapter Lead, you are responsible for the knowledge development of your employees within the ING Way-of-Work.

Engineering skills
- At least Bachelor/Master level of education
- Knowledge of, and experience with Agile/Scrum
- DevOps skills
- Expert in the field of SQL
- Knowledge of, and experience with Java 8+
- Knowledge of, and experience with continues delivery tools like GIT, Azure DevOps, and Azure pipeline
- Familiar with ELK stack and other monitoring and alerting solutions like Grafana and Prometheus
- Knowledge of, and experience with Risk management in a IT Bank environment
- Experience in drawing up complex business requirements from stakeholders and converting them into IT solutions
- You have a positive mindset

- You have an excellent command of both the Dutch and English language, both verbally and in writing
