Amsterdam, Full-time (Day Shift) - Ready to Lead a Great Team
Are you someone with a mechanical background who demonstrates effective leadership skills? We are looking for someone like you to join our team in Amsterdam and help keep our technical operations running efficiently. Thanks to our mechanics, we minimize downtime and ensure a safe work environment, and we need a strong Foreman / Forewoman to guide them. If you are confident, enjoy inspiring others, and thrive in a dynamic environment, we encourage you to apply!
The Soybean Factory in Amsterdam: What we do (and why it's cool)
Our soybean plant in the Amsterdam harbor is a lively hub of activity. We take soybeans shipped all the way from Brazil, South America, Canada, and Ukraine and transform them into soybean oil and soy meal. Think giant ships, siwertells unloading beans, towering silos, a crush site and a refinery —it's a pretty impressive operation! Join us and become part of this global supply chain.
Your Day-to-Day (it's more than just fixing things)
As Foreman, you will be a key player in our team. Working with another Foreman, a Work Planner, and a Scheduler, you'll lead a team of around 10 mechanics and contractors, ensuring the seamless execution of all technical work. Your focus will be on minimizing disruptions and downtime by fostering a culture of reliability and safety. You'll also:
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth processes and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Manage reporting, budgeting, and work preparation—keeping things organized and on track.
- Provide expert technical guidance to your team and evaluate their performance—helping them grow and excel.
- Contribute to employee development—investing in the future of our team.
What your manager has to say about the role
"This role is perfect for someone who thrives in an industrial environment and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. You need to be adaptable, ready to remake your plans on the fly. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities for improvement. Our plant may be a bit dated, but that just means there’s a lot of potential for enhancements and the plant is continuously evolving. Creativity and outside-the-box thinking are crucial here. Despite its age, this is the best plant I've ever worked in—very no-nonsense and the kind of place where the industrial environment feels like home. Our team is diverse, with members from all sorts of backgrounds, and everyone pulls together to make things better every single day."
What we're looking for in you
- MBO+ technical education (e.g., mechanical engineering or mechatronics).
- Proven experience in a similar role (even if it's from a different industry, like automotive, and you're ready for that next step).
- Strong leadership abilities—able to inspire and empower your team.
- Excellent communication skills—keeping everyone informed and connected.
- Fluency in English, Dutch is a preference.
Moreover, we appreciate individuals who possess confidence, make decisive decisions, adapt easily, and have a proactive approach. If you're passionate about building a culture of reliability and enjoy tackling challenges creatively, we want to hear from you!
What we offer (It's a Great Place to Work)
