Night Receptionist @ Via Amsterdam
Via Amsterdam is a multi-functional playground for the curious new-age traveller. The reception is the centre of the hostel and as a Night Receptionist you are, sort of, the heart of the hostel <3. You are the one to make the right first impression by welcoming our guests. You love to be in contact with travellers from all over the world and you just want to make sure that our guests are having the time of their life. We say nayyy to that standard 'passport and booking number please!' check in and yay! to sharing your favourite hotspot, that hidden vintage boutique and the best coffee shop in town (let's be real, that's what gets them to Amsterdam).
In the role of Night Receptionist, you (and the colleague(s) that is (are) with you on shift) are responsible for the hotel at night. With close to a 1000 beds (and thus people staying here at night) this is a big responsibility. We therefore make sure you receive extensive training on the job as well as follow the Emergency Responsive Officer (BHV) course. This is a one-day training provided by an external company, on our location. What we look for is someone that uses our extensive training, but also common sense and healthy decision making, as a basis to keep Via not only a fun but also safe place to stay!
A workday includes:
Being the first smiley face the guest sees!
Checking in / checking out guests, handling incoming phone calls, answering questions etc.
Providing guests with information about Amsterdam's finest things to do / see / experience.
Security rounds, resolving any security issues, and follow-up reporting.
Managing stock levels / restocking.
Front office administration such as night audit, reporting etc.
Keeping an eye on the lobby area and ensuring it looks dashing at all times!
You'll be a great fit if you bring a few of the below with you:
You have excellent hospitality and communication skills. English is required and it would be great if you speak another language as well.
A high sense of responsibility and ownership.
You show a flexible mindset, taking in account the needs and wishes of our guests during our varying events.
Being super-duper hands-on comes totally naturally to you and you act proactively to problems, issues and or concerns.
You have great ideas of ways to improve service or the business in general.
Logical thinking and decision making comes natural to you.
And of course - you are a true night owl!
What we offer:
A dynamic working environment with a fun, young and vibrant atmosphere and colleagues from all over the world.
Super cool events such as monthly staff drinks, karaoke night and more!
A very fair compensation (above minimum wage). The hourly wage is excluding: 8% holiday allowance, compensation for accrued vacation days, and 10% night supplement.
Opportunities to grow within your role and, if this is something you're up to, grow within the company. This next step in your career gets you access to our Via Academy, which is filled with tons of exciting learning and development opportunities.
*This role is available only on a variable hour contract (for example, as a side job).
