THE ROLE
Damen Naval is seeking an experienced Integration Engineer Marine Systems (Interim) to join our team in Vlissingen. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of integrating complex marine systems into our innovative naval vessels. From the initial design phase through to final installation and testing, you will ensure that every system meets the highest standards of performance, quality, and reliability. You will collaborate closely with internal departments, external suppliers, and subcontractors to deliver seamless integration of marine systems that meet all customer and regulatory requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
As Integration Engineer Marine Systems (Interim) your key responsibilities will include:
- Participates in the proposal phase of the project with defining and selecting of feasible marine system configurations and components.
- Sets up (functional) technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors based upon customer requirements, design requirements and regulations.
- Performs technical evaluations of quotations from suppliers in close cooperation with the purchasing department.
- Ensures full compliance to all applicable requirements in close collaboration with suppliers during technical discussions and within agreed schedules, required quality and cost limits.
- Collects and reviews supplier engineering information/documentation; (i.e. Mechanical drawings, schematics, calculations, electrical diagrams, etc.).
- Actively seeks multi-disciplinary interaction to ensure solutions are in the projects’ overall best interest.
- Identifies shortcomings in and suggests improvements for integration of delivered components/systems into the ship’s design and other marine systems in close cooperation with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Composes and/or supports drafting of technical/functional specification documents; (i.e. System Description Statements, Installation and alignment procedures, HAT, and SAT procedures).
- Verifies technical performance of products and systems; (i.e. Dynamic simulations, inspection of equipment at supplier premises, FAT’s and, occasionally, during installation on board).
- Occasionally offers technical support during STW, HAT and SAT at the building yard.
- Ensures good working relationship with technical representatives of suppliers and customer.
- Participates in design checks and reviews to guarantee the required quality.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To excel as Integration Engineer Marine Systems (interim), you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant technical study with at least one year of relevant experience.
Solid experience with marine systems in the naval shipbuilding, offshore or commercial shipbuilding.
- Extensive experience with marine systems, ideally gained in naval shipbuilding, offshore, or commercial shipbuilding environments.
- Experience managing complex projects, including interactions with statutory bodies and third-party vendors or subcontractors.
- Proficiency in working with marine systems and a strong understanding of relevant regulations and standards.
- Proficient in both Dutch and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
