The role
As Personal Assistant (PA) to the Managing Director of Damen Naval, the premier naval shipbuilding company within Damen Shipyards Group you will provide high-level executive support to the Managing Director. This role is perfect for a young professional with a bachelor’s or master’s degree, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive mindset, looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
As PA to the Managing Director, you will be the fundamental point of contact and provide seamless support in managing schedules, coordinating meetings, preparing presentations, managing confidential information, and facilitating smooth communication with internal and external stakeholders. You will play a key role in enabling the Managing Director to focus on strategic objectives while ensuring operational excellence and will be based in Vlissingen at our global headquarters and in our office in Schiedam.
Key accountabilities
As Personal Assistant to the Managing Director your responsibilities include:
- Proactively manage the Managing Director’s calendar, schedule meetings, and ensure timely preparation with relevant briefing materials.
- Arrange and oversee complex travel itineraries, including accommodations and transportation.
- Function as the first point of contact for internal and external inquiries, ensuring effective communication and discretion.
- Prepare, proofread, and distribute correspondence, reports, and presentations.
- Organize and coordinate meetings, including setting agendas, taking accurate minutes, and following up on action items.
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate seamless meeting preparation and execution.
- Maintain an efficient filing system for documentation and correspondence, ensuring accessibility and confidentiality.
- Process expense reports and oversee administrative tasks to optimize efficiency.
- Support on ad-hoc projects, including research, event planning, and presentations.
- Assist with organizing company events, including leadership team sessions and external engagements.

Skills & experience
As candidate for the vacancy of Personal Assistant to the Managing Director you have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- At least three years of experience as a Personal Assistant or in a similar role supporting senior management.
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Dutch.
- Elevated level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Able to work at our global headquarters in Vlissingen and at our office in Schiedam.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Personal qualities: self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable to changing priorities, collaborative team player with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable in a fast-paced international environment with deadlines.
- Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
