The job:
Working as the Events Operations Manager in the biggest conference hotel in The Hague is always exciting and challenging. With over 20 meeting rooms there is enough to do. Every meeting is different, in terms of group size, purpose and complexity.
In the role of Events Operations Manager you work very closely with the Events department, they sell the event and make sure all guest requests are summarized on the Banquet Event Order. During the weekly sheet meeting, you walk through the BEO so you can plan accordingly for the operational side of the request. High season is typically from September until May, so during these months it's important for you to be on top of your game.
Since every day is different, your schedule differs from day to day as well. Most events do take place on weekdays, however planning and preparations are often made in the weekend. In your role as a leader, you make sure to have an overview however, setting up meeting spaces and serving guests is also still part of your daily routine.
Operationally you work together with your team of banqueting associates and hourly associates to make the events to a success. Being in the leadership position means, you make sure you have a clear overview of events and planning and motivate the team to exceed the guest expectations at every opportunity. You log the performance of your team in half-yearly appraisals. Another partner in crime for you is the Executive Chef, together you make sure planning for all food related aspects of the meeting are on point.
The cleanliness, conditions and overall presentation of the meeting spaces in the hotel, are part of your responsibility as well. Making sure everything is on point to welcome guests is of vital importance for the success of the event. Issues are logged in our internal tool called Empower.
