As an AWS Data Platform Engineer, you will be part of the core data platform team, you are responsible for developing, automating, and troubleshooting key AWS infrastructure and data processes. You will play a crucial role in enabling and supporting multiple (8+) BI and Data Science teams by defining best practices, access mechanisms, and automation frameworks for a high-performing, cost-optimized data platform.
You are an expert in:
- AWS Infrastructure & Automation: Develop, manage, and optimise AWS environments using Infrastructure as Code (CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform).
- Data Engineering & Integration: Build and manage data extractions, transformations, and aggregations using Python, PySpark, and AWS services.
- Security & Access Management: Define and enforce IAM policies, SSO profiles, and role-based access mechanisms for secure AWS usage.
- S3 & Redshift Management: Manage external and managed tables, optimize storage, and create libraries for user-defined functions (UDFs).
- AWS Cost & Performance Optimization: Implement cost-effective, scalable solutions using Glue pipelines, S3, Redshift, ORC/Parquet/Text files.
- Monitoring & Observability: Utilize CloudWatch and CloudTrail for logging, anomaly detection, and proactive issue resolution.
This role and team are integral and central to data, BI and analytics at Odido. You will be part of a diverse team that is growing in responsibility and scope. The team consists of AWS data platform experts (internals and externals) lead by platform owner. It proudly owns, builds and supports the platform that is leveraged by BI, analytics and data governance team to realize data products and services.

Must-Have Skills and Qualifications
- 4-5 years of hands-on AWS experience in BI/Data platforms (preferably AWS certified - developer or professional)
- Expertise in AWS infrastructure as code (CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, ).
- Strong knowledge of AWS data services: S3, Redshift, Glue, DMS, AppFlow, Data Transfer/Data Sync, Airflow, Kafka, SQS, Step Functions.
- Proficiency in Python, PySpark (occasional TypeScript).
- Experience with state machines interacting with Lambda, Glue, and APIs.
- Strong understanding of CloudWatch, CloudTrail, SNS, and EventBridge.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub.
- Technical communication skills in English
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Exposure to Big Data Ecosystems (Lake Formation, Spark, AWS Wrangler), data science team.
- Experience working with Alembic.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum methodologies; especially with hybrid or remote teams
- Familiarity with Linux distributions and containerization.
