Are you excited about open science and the FAIR principles? Do you want to play a key role in improving the interoperability of research data and advance how data is shared and used in science?
Job description
As the Community Manager for Research Data Interoperability, you will engage with researchers and collaborate with faculty data stewards, data managers, and ontology experts to improve the culture of research data management at TU Delft. The goal of your work is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of research data management - bringing together interested parties and contributing to a scientific culture where the data created by research projects can be more easily shared, found, analysed and understood.
In this role, you will be embedded in the Research Data and Software team, based at the TU Delft Library. You will work closely with the staff from the team, particularly the data managers. But you will also work across the university, with researchers and data stewards based in the faculties. You will also be part of the TU Delft Digital Competence Centre, a collaboration of TU Delft Library and ICT Innovation, which offers expertise in data and software management to specific research projects.
Your tasks will include:
- Engaging with the research community and relevant stakeholders to understand current practices in research data management and to identify challenges and opportunities related to interoperability of that data.
- Developing and implementing a communication strategy to raise awareness and to promote best practices about interoperability, ontologies, and metadata standards among researchers and data professionals.
- Organising information sessions and community events.
- Creating outreach materials, blog posts, newsletters, and social media content.
- Organising sessions to facilitate co-creation of disciplinary metadata/ontologies.
- Collaborating with faculty data stewards and Digital Competence Centre at TU Delft and ontology experts at the national network of Thematic Digital Competence Centres to exchange expertise and strengthen interoperability efforts.
- Developing and implementing a sustainability strategy for interoperability practices.
- Supporting and guiding the TU Delft community to adopt best practices in interoperability.
This is a temporary position funded by NWO to enable an exploratory project to improve data interoperability practices at TU Delft.
Job requirements
- You have a completed academic education (PhD is a plus) and have good knowledge of the scientific research process.
- You have affinity with or experience in research data management, with a focus on data interoperability and the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
- You have knowledge of or interest in metadata standards, vocabularies, and tools supporting data interoperability.
- You are an excellent communicator, able to engage diverse stakeholders and foster collaboration.
- You have interest in engaging with and bringing together different communities and stakeholders to work on a common goal.
- You can work both independently and collaboratively.
- You have a good command of English, written and spoken (If not a Dutch speaker, a willingness to learn Dutch to level A2)
