Are you a naturally curious person and do you like to be aware of what is happening in the world around you? Do you realize that external developments in the financial world can have a tremendous impact on banks? Are you looking for an interesting and relevant job with both an external and internal focus? Then the Market Infrastructures & Industry Engagement team might be the right place for you.
Market Infrastructures (MI) is responsible for timely identification of external developments regarding financial market infrastructures (FMIs), such as SWIFT, Target2 and Euroclear. These infrastructures and networks form the backbone of banks meaning that banks cannot exist and function without FMIs, which make them a crucial part of the financial industry. The Market Infrastructures team monitors external developments regarding FMIs and assesses the potential impact on ABN AMRO, supporting stakeholders within the bank to take informed decisions. Additionally we are responsible for the Access to FMI part of the Bank Recovery & Resolution Directive (BRRD) and participate in various projects and represent ABN AMRO in interbank groups and committees.
Your primary focus is to ensure ABN AMRO complies with the BRRD Access to FMI guidelines with a strong focus on Securities and Markets related FMIs such as CSDs (Central Securities Depositories) and CCPs (Central Counterparties). You are responsible for establishing, maintaining, updating and implementing specific FMI contingency plans and will be involved in the Financial Market Infrastructures Report (FMIR), regulatory reporting on among other things the liquidity need per FMI. In close cooperation with the team and internal stakeholders you will establish these contingency plans.
Other tasks include;
- Remaining up to date on external (regulatory) developments related to BRRD access to FMI and translating these developments into guidance for ABN AMRO;
- Informing, coordinating and advising ABN AMRO on external developments like FMI strategies such as the movement to delivery versus payment, FMI trends such as tokenisation of assets and cash and regulatory direction in Europe such as the Savings & Investments Union/ Capital Markets Union.
- Aligning, establishing and safeguarding ABN AMRO's position with all relevant stakeholders both internally and externally;
- Delivering clear guidance and communication - both in Dutch as well in English - providing insight in external FMI developments allowing the Product Units to take informed and timely decisions;
You embody ABN AMRO's culture principles - Care, Collaboration, Courage - and carry these principles out. You understand how detailed developments can affect the financial industry and more specifically ABN AMRO and you know how to convey this message effectively. You aim to continuously improve as a professional and as part of a team.
As a domain expert you work within the Personal Business Banking, Transaction Banking domain but with a bank-wide scope covering payments, securities and markets. External developments such as the development of a wholesale CBDC, Savings & Investments Union, Trade +1 execution, the EU's Digital Finance Strategy and the implementation of the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive are examples of topics covered by Market Infrastructures. These topics are addressed internally within stakeholder circles and externally through for example participation in various interbank committees. By leveraging an "Outside In - Inside Out" approach the Bank's positions are safeguarded efficiently.
