We're looking for someone to lead, inspire and share with the team their passion for home furnishing & shop design. As our first Shop Design Manager for IKEA Sylvia Park, New Zealand, you will share with the many New Zealanders the IKEA brand, visual identity and how our home furnishing solutions help the many people to create a better everyday life at home in New Zealand.

You are passionate about the IKEA brand and visual identity and how our home furnishing solutions can help the many people to create a better everyday life at home in New Zealand. You are up to date with the latest home furnishing trends and are knowledgeable about Life at Home. You are inspired, motivated and driven to position IKEA as a leading home furnishing retailer in New Zealand. You are solution-focused and believe in challenging and finding new ways to inspire our visitors and co-workers with interior design solutions that meet and exceed their needs and dreams through the store layout & range presentation. You are an inspirational leader with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence and drive the growth agenda alongside your commercial partners. Confident in communicating, influencing, and coaching others, you continually seek new opportunities to improve the way we work, and encourage your team to do so. You have a passion for leading with integrity and authenticity and have the ability to champion IKEA values and encourage your team to embody these principles in their daily work. You are curious and confident with digital tools and are able to find opportunities where digital advancements and solutions can support the retail environment and customer satisfaction. You have clear technical strengths, with experience working with design software and production tools including Revit, InDesign, Illustrator and/or Photoshop.

As a Shop Design Manager your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Coaching and mentoring your Interior Design team through setting clear expectations, direction and follow up.
• Contributing to positioning the IKEA store as the first choice for home furnishing in the market.
• For gathering and translating insights from home visit into locally relevant, functional, aesthetic and commercial home furnishing solutions that exceed customer expectations and reflect home furnishing the IKEA way.
• Applying your extensive home furnishing knowledge to create up to date room settings and other media, thereby creating vitality throughout the IKEA New Zealand Market.
• Using the richness of the IKEA product range to show distinct and different styles that appeal to many individual tastes and needs.
• Reflecting the IKEA identity and creating visual impact in all commercial, sales support and co-worker areas.
• Being a key contributor to the successful implementation of IKEA concept review and retail topic reviews.
• Support your leadership team in managing the recruitment, retention, performance management, succession planning and competence development of the team.
A little more about the job
We may be experts in flatpacks, but it is your expertise in the following we are looking for:
• At least 3 years' experience in an interior design or equivalent role within a large retail organisation with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
• Highly regarded to have experience in design software, Revit.
• Excellent communication skills, and ability to inspire, coach and develop people and secure succession to bring together a high performing team that can contribute to business goals.
• Cultural competency and the ability to integrate equality, diversity, and inclusion practices within a workplace.
What you need to know
• This role is permanent full time and the minimum guaranteed paid hours are 37.5 per week.
• As our store operates 7 days per week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evening shifts. You also have the availability to work alternating weekend shifts (both Saturday and Sunday).
• As part of the recruitment process this role requires a pre-employment check for final candidates.
