Our team within IKEA
IKEA is creating magical mixed-reality experiences for hundreds of millions of users, using computer vision, neural networks, graphics, and computational photography to help them reduce the "imagination gap". IKEA Kreativ, launched in 2022, is expanding to provide best-in-class tools for customers and co-workers to visualize their home design ideas with helpful and joyful 3D experiences.We are looking for highly motivated, creative graphics engineers with entrepreneurial drive, who are excited about building novel technologies and getting them into the hands of millions if not billions of IKEA consumers!
We have an opening for a seasoned and passionate Senior 3D Pipeline Engineer to join our amazing new Home Imagination Platform (HIP) Team at IKEA, located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This team will collaborate directly with the R&D team at Geomagical Labs (an IKEA company based in the USA), and be part of influential and cutting-edge 3D and AI technology development on a global, multi-million user scale.

In this role, you will:• Delight consumers with 3D experiences in our influential IKEA Kreativ app on web and mobile - that are visually compelling & high-performance.
• Develop high-scale 3D baking & conditioning pipelines for 1,000,000+ 3D assets at various levels of detail, using custom code & the Simplygon optimization toolkit.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, AI scientists, product managers and designers to firmly establish architectural directions and asset delivery requirements.
• Deliver 3D realism by adopting emerging PBR material standards, generating & baking visual enhancements like ambient occlusion into models, and creating multiple LODs for optimal asset delivery across diverse user platforms.
• Design and build interactive tools & pipelines to store/search/serve millions of assets, and support internal workflows.
• Develop processing algorithms to extract and insert metadata to support custom behaviours in web and mobile applications.
• Create prototypes to validate new concepts and mitigate risks.
• Help build and nurture a new European Geomagical startup team, in close partnership with IKEA companies: helping recruit, interview, mentor, and motivate new team members.
Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years experience in developing 3D pipelines for asset conditioning optimisation.
• Strong foundations in Computer Science and software engineering - university degree in Computer Science preferred.
• Thorough understanding of texture-mapped materials, u-v mapping, atlassing, baking, ambient occlusion.
• Super productive Python software engineering skills.
BONUS: Experience scripting for 3D software packages like Blender, 3DStudio Max, Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.
BONUS: Experience with standardized 3D formats like GLTF, USDz, MaterialX.
BONUS: Experience with Django full-stack development.
