In Range Area Seating, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Lifecycle Team. In this assignment you will mainly focus on maintaining and improving our running range in close collaboration with our Development Teams, Categories and other stakeholders in our value chain.
It will be various tasks in your assignment, like working with improvement projects as well as updating and maintaining products and product documentation in our running range.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Develop and update technical product design and solution that meets identified product requirements, business ambitions and customer needs.
Create technical product design using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and 3D modelling programs.
Implement and apply IKEA standard materials, solutions, and platforms to drive cost savings and meet sustainability and circularity ambitions.
Collaborating with development partners, designers, and manufacturers to ensure design specifications are met.
Initiate development tests and computer simulations to optimize and verify product design and technical solutions.
Mitigate product risks to secure safe products.
Create and update technical documentation like 3D models, technical drawings, assembly instructions, assembly time, bill of components and other specifying product documentation.
Identify and give recommendations for After Sales Parts from a quality and circular perspective.
Break down product construction to relevant part structure level with all ingoing components and fittings.

We believe that you have a University Degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as theoretical and practical background within Mechanical Engineering and its impact of the value chain - from raw material to the co-worker and customer perspective.
You have knowledge in mechanical design in terms of drawing technique, geometric dimensioning, tolerancing, simulations and 3D-modelling.
Knowledge using Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs and product lifecycle management systems such as SolidWorks and PTC Windchill.
For this position we highly value great communication skills and the ability to lead yourself to make things happen.

This is a permanent full-time role located at Älmhult, Sweden. Preferred starting date is as soon as possible.
Please note that it is required to be located physically in Sweden and working a majority of the week at the office in Älmhult. Älmhult has commuting possibilities with hourly trains to Malmö, Lund and Växjö and an IKEA shuttle bus back and forth to Helsingborg three times a day.
