A deep passion, curiosity, energy and understanding of graphic design, home furnishing and people's everyday lives at home. Able to incorporate creative and commercial visual competence with a keen eye and appreciation of aesthetics in graphic design. Clear technical strengths, with experience working with graphic design software and production tools including InDesign, Illustrator and/or Photoshop. A motivational leader who can engage people fully to reach set goals and generate growth and long-term profitability. Are confident in communicating, influencing, and coaching others and continually seek new opportunities to improve the way we work, and encourage your team to do so. You have exceptional communication skills and the ability to build relationships, collaborate and effectively influence and manage key stakeholders. You have experience in leading teams with a customer-centric mindset, with proven record of successful leadership delivering both business results and people development. You are curious and confident with digital tools and are able to find opportunities where digital advancements and solutions can support the retail environment and customer satisfaction. You have a passion for leading with integrity and authenticity and have the ability to champion IKEA values and encourage your team to embody these principles in their daily work.

About this work area
As Graphic Communication Team Leader your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Contributing to positioning the IKEA store as the first choice for home furnishing in your local market.
- Taking a leading role in overseeing the complete range of customer store communication.
- Applying your extensive knowledge and understanding of people's life at home and their buying behavior to improve graphic communication inside and outside the IKEA store to facilitate the buying process.
- Ensuring IKEA graphic communication is clear, consistent, understandable, uncluttered, and correctly placed.
- Using your graphic design skills, IKEA Concept and IKEA visual and copy identity to create and implement graphic solutions that support commercial priorities and our visual uniqueness.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate store communication strategies that support a convenient shopping experience by using the knowledge about life at home and shopping behavior in the local market.
- Coaching and mentoring your team through setting clear expectations, direction and follow up.
- Comfortable with the dynamic between hands on work and strategic implementation.
To be considered for this role experience in the following is essential:
- 3-5 years' experience in a graphic design role within a large retail organisation, advertising agency or design studio.
- With at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign & Adobe After Effects. Highly regarded knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere & Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Te Reo Māori and or Te Ao Māori, with the ability to write and visually represent is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication skills, and ability to inspire, coach and develop people and secure succession to bring together a high performing team that can contribute to business goals.
- Cultural competency and the ability to integrate equality, diversity, and inclusion practices within a workplace.
What you need to know
- This role is permanent full time.
- The work location for this role is IKEA Sylvia Park and external warehouse.
- As our store operates 7 days per week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evening shifts. You also have the availability to the occasional weekend if required.
