For the Schiphol Group we are looking for a Cloud Engineer
About your role:
Deepturnaround is designed for Kubernetes clusters in the Azure cloud. We currently use many native features Azure provides, however some clients want to deploy Deepturnaround in another cloud, on-prem or even air-gapped. You will help us to design, create and deploy a cloud agnostic version of Deepturnaround. Together with the infra team you will integrate these alternatives in our stack so we can deploy Deepturnaround anywhere in the world, even on-prem.
Your tasks:
•
• Find cloud agnostic alternatives for the Azure cloud features Deepturnaround currently is using, i.e. Kubernetes, storage, databases, Kafka and authentication and more.
• Collaborate closely with the infra team to design, build and deploy these alternatives.
• Plan and test day-two operations so we can be confident that our cloud agnostic alternatives are valid.
• Documentation the alternatives so we (or the client) can manage them in the future.
• Assist our developers in migrating from Azure native to cloud agnostic development tools.
• Assist the team with solving questions and challenges our non-Azure clients might have.
Qualifications:
•
• A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; and 8+ years of professional engineering experience
• Solid knowledge and experience using Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Helm, Kustomize and other Linux/Kubernetes related tools.
• Understanding how to deploy applications reliable and highly-available in cloud and on-prem environments.
• Experience with Ansible and/or Terraform to automate the infrastructure deployments.
Bonus points for:
• Experience with Azure and AKS (what we are currently using).
• Experience with Google and GKE or Amazon and EKS (what we want to use).
• Experience with k3s, Talos or another cloud agnostic Kubernetes distribution.
• Knowledge of networks and storage challenges on-prem deployments might have.
• Experience designing and managing production workload in self-hosted environments, like on-prem and air-gapped.
• Open to working with clients in different timezones.
• Working level proficiency in the Dutch language.
Additional information(1):
• Suppliers who already have deployments with Schiphol must have signed the November 2024 addendum. If the addendum is not signed yet, the candidate will be rejected immediately.
• Per supplier a maximum of 2 candidates may be offered.
• Since it is expected that many candidates will be offered, the reason for rejection will be minimal. Please take this into account.
Additional Information(2):
• CV & Motivation focused on the assignment, please submit in Dutch and in PDF.
• Maximum size of CV 1500 KB.
• Important: Make sure that the information about the candidate is complete.
• Suppliers of candidates should be aware of the applicable laws and regulations regarding employment conditions and the (Schiphol) CAO. This deployment falls in scale 13 of the Schiphol CAO.
• A VGB is a requirement for this assignment. The start date will not be discussed until the VOG is received at Magnit.
• This screening must be initiated by Magnit with the AIVD in connection with the application for a Schiphol Pass after Schiphol has indicated that onboarding can be started.
• The candidate has proof of identity (passport or identity card) that is valid at intake and on the start date of the candidate's contract and can be shown for verification.
• When offering the candidate, we assume that you agree to the terms and conditions of this particular client. If you are not familiar with these terms and conditions, please request them from the recruiter in charge.
