This role provides a leading role in the technical delivery of our Run & Change roadmap, to support and improve our Engineering journey and culture, through application support, technology development and lifecycle management.
You will work with multiple squads who are developing custom solutions or implementing and integrating vendor solutions with regional or global applications and infrastructure.

You and Your Job
The Engineering Lead (EL) with its Technical craftmanship and experience, facilitates, inspires and guides Squads to realize their goals and to become empowered squads. The EL together with the Architect and the Product Owners or Business representative(s), ensures competing priorities are managed in alignment to Stakeholder needs and CITO standards and requirements and as such fulfill sprint commitments, by working actively with the squad members, (offshore) suppliers, and vendors.
The EL drives execution and continuous improvement, champions an engineering culture, addresses IT impediments, shares knowledge and leads innovation, whilst ensuring the bank remains Stable & Secure. The EL actively manages IT Risk such as LCM, vulnerability management, etc. The EL will focus on maintaining and further building upon a positive culture, with consistent and sound business practices and empowered teams that embrace and welcomes change.
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the EL include, but are not limited to:
- Leading Technology in Run, Change and Innovation
- Focusing on delivery, including addressing (technical) impediments and non-functional requirements
- Provide solution guidance in line with existing budget and MTP
- Guarding the integral IT approach and link to other IT initiatives within and outside scope
- Adhering to IT framework, such as security policies, LCM standards and other Risk and Control policies, standards, processes and procedures
- Supporting an innovation and engineering culture
- Establishing and maintaining processes & procedures for area in accordance with company policy
Other specific responsibilities include:
- System Ownership: Manage IT assets, adhere to bank standards, and track service levels.
- Vulnerability Management: Identify, assess, and address system and application vulnerabilities.
- Life-Cycle Management: Lead system planning, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
- Technical Advisor: Provide expert advice to leadership and development teams on technological decisions.
- Skill Assessment & Development: Evaluate team skills and provide input on development plans with Tech Lead(s)
- Technical Oversight: Ensure scalable, secure architecture and mitigate technical risks.
- Operational support responsibilities: on-call rotations, ticket handling & monitoring, etc. As applicable
- Software Development: Coordinate efforts across technology domains for consistent solutions.
- IT Risk Management: Manage IT risk incidents and findings.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with regulations and enhance security.
- Trend Analysis: Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends.
- Technology Roadmap: Develop and align technology roadmap with strategic goals.
- Solution Delivery Documentation: Provide detailed system requirements and design documentation.
- Knowledge Dissemination: Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and establish innovation labs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with teams to implement efficient technologies.
- Risk and Control Framework: Ensure quality meets control requirements.
- Vendor & Partnership Management: Engage with third-party vendors and partners.
- Transparent Communication: Maintain open communication with stakeholders and senior management.
Your Promise to Us:
To be considered for the Engineering Lead role, you must have:
- Bachelor's degree (Information Technology / Computer Science preferred)
- Agile/ DevOps certifications
- Minimum 10+ year experience in IT competency area
- Demonstrated experience in Agile/ DevOps way of working
- Knowledge of, and experience with, at least two (2) of the following technical areas:
- Application Development Tooling
- Integration
- Automation
- Web / Cloud Infrastructure
- Strong customer focus, with a commitment to improving the application developer's experience using Application Technology.
- (Desired) Certification(s) on Microsoft technologies such as Azure, Power Platform, or .NET.
- (Desired) Experience with IT Operations (e.g., monitoring and systems management)
- (Desired) Experience with offshore and nearshore development.
In addition:
- Experience leading though influence in a matrix environment;
- Affinity with business processes and objectives;
- Knowledge of, and experience with, Project Management/Agile delivery;
- Knowledge of, and experience with, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring methods;
- Experience with different delivery models from local to nearshore and offshore;
- Experience with IT Risk Management and Regulatory banking requirements
- Experience working against established budgets
