TS - Correspondent Banking Management (CBM) is a team within the TS Strategy & Balance Sheet Management department. The team's purpose is to manage the ING network wide costs associated with commercial payment activities and to build up bilateral contractual partnerships with other Financial Institutions used for processing international payments.
As a Correspondent Banking Manager you report to the Head of the TS CBM
Your key responsibilities
- You will be responsible for managing a regional portfolio of banks and payment providers to ING. You will be responsible for the lifecycle of the agents from onboarding, ongoing due diligence and offboarding as appropriate following a structured risk-based approach for managing third party provider banks.
- Defining a policy on the level and types of charges that are acceptable to ING as buyer of services from other banks for your markets, in alignment with the commercial pricing strategy.
- Executing a gap analysis on 3rd party banks that exceed the acceptable price level as defined in the policy. Analyze alternative providers in your markets and understand the payment landscape in said markets bringing your knowledge to ING's internal Product partners.
- Executing data analyses and providing transparency on current price levels and invoicing processes. Installing adequate tooling to support the activities around managing the Correspondent Banking costs.
- Driving improvements, both in (re)negotiations of fees and implementing routing strategies to reduce Correspondent Banking costs.
- Organizing Due Diligence checks and executing Request for Information/ Request for Proposal processes linked to payment services delivered by other banks to ING.
- Developing and producing KPI's and metrics for the TS Correspondent Banking Management function.
We are looking for
- A proven cash network manager with experience of managing third party cash agent banks and a detailed knowledge of payments and applicable regulation.
- Ability to successfully promote partnerships, encourage collaboration, information sharing and discussion.
- Strong focus on execution and delivery; getting things done mentality.
- Strong interpersonal and communications (written and verbal) skills, comfortable negotiating at senior levels with agents.
- Commercial mindset and strong negotiations skills.
- Awareness of the nuances of managing relationships with agent banks, ability to navigate internal stakeholders accordingly.
- Ability to work independently and remotely within a small team.
- At least 4-8 years of experience in (FI) payments industry ideally this will have been within network management, (product, sales, or operations would be considered).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experienced in producing metrics and KPI's and evaluating these to manage performance.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and emotional intelligence.
- Good awareness of risk relating to cash agent banks to include geopolitical, execution, operational and legal risk.
