Global Credit Restructuring (GCR) is globally responsible for a safe, compliant and data driven credit loss process by managing loan loss provisioning, finding solutions for clients in financial difficulty and by closing the learning loop on lessons learned. We take responsibility for finding tailored solutions for ING's clients in difficulty, acting as the restructuring knowledge center for ING.
GCR teams have been integral to some of the most interesting and complex restructuring transactions across various sectors and geographies. We are committed to together preserve principal, maximise recovery and develop a strategy which best benefits ING Bank and its clients.
We are looking for a Senior Account Manager acting as Team Principal ('primus inter pares") within our Amsterdam based Team Wholesale Banking which is responsible for ING's WB client portfolio. You will report to the GCR WB Team Head. As team principal you ensure a coordinated approach within the restructuring portfolio of your team, with regards to managing credit decisions as well as reporting requirements. You will support the GCR WB Team Head in the global WB Loan Loss Provisioning process, the WB Watchlist process and in the annual performance cycle of your team members.
Your work environment
You will take a coordinating approach during the restructuring process, with frequent client interaction. This position offers a superior learning experience as files under our responsibility have complex financing structures requiring out-of-the box thinking while safeguarding alignment within diverse syndicated lender groups and possibly various other stakeholders. Therefore, your working environment is challenging and dynamic in which you will be responsible for connecting with - and coordination between - internal and external stakeholders at senior levels.
Roles and Responsibilities
The role requires you to be able to both act as trusted principal for your team and act with a hands-on approach for complex restructuring files in your GCR team. You will balance your role as coach for the team members with your individual hands-on involvement in managing several problem loans.
- You will lead, mentor and manage part of the GCR WB Team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. As part of that role, you will provide guidance, development objectives and performance management for your team members to achieve individual and collective goals. You will promote ING's values and ensure alignment with broader WB organizational objectives
- You coordinate GCR's role as knowledge center for your team and actively monitor that your team provides feedback on lessons learned of restructurings in your portfolio to our colleagues.
- You encourage the team to act in compliance with the legal and regulatory frameworks, with the objective of safeguarding the reputation of ING and minimising financial costs to ING. Where needed, you will also be able to take (partial) responsibility in projects related to regulatory requirements (such as ECB, internal and/or external auditors).
How to succeed
We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you'll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.
Your profile:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in lending transactions structuring, negotiation and execution
- Strong people skills, confident to coach experienced restructuring professionals and with the ambition to lead a team
- A mindset that is positively challenged when working on multiple projects, under stress and with tight deadlines.
- Work collaboratively as well as independently in a changing internal and external environment where interests are not always aligned.
- Build and manage relationships with stakeholders, both within and outside ING. Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate at senior levels
- A practical approach, focused on problem solving and coming up with creative solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English, committed to understand key issues of the client in distress with an eye for detail.
- Knowledge of credit risk management processes, the ING business and organization. Strong awareness of regulatory framework and requirements
