ING's True International Payments department consists of approximately 100 employees of various nationalities, including Belgian, Brazilian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Dutch, Indian, Iranian, Irish, Russian, South African, and Turkish. We work together based in three different locations: The Netherlands, Spain, and India. Individual squads consist of five to nine engineers specializing in DevOps, Java, or FiServ's EPP (Payment Platform) Development engineering. Together, we maintain a cluster of Java applications built around a vendor application, 50+ interfaces, and the configuration of the central application itself.
Roles and responsibilities
As Payment Platform Engineer you help make sure ING's international payments are processed flawlessly. This means you refine, specify, and configure new features in line with high-level business requirements or rulebook changes. Each squad owns its own set of services, configuration, and applications. This also means you functionally test what is delivered by the squad, align with our vendor at content level, align with surrounding building blocks and solve problems across environments - including production. The position is suitable for people that are analytical and understand payments, but also have a keen interest in IT.

As a Senior Engineer you contribute to the development and maintenance applications within PSS.
- A team member that is result-oriented and proactive,
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of payments,
- Proven experience and strong interest in IT and with an very strong analytical mind,
- Also a good communicator, fluent in English - both written and spoken.
- Excellent in alignment with Payment specialist converting complex business problems into IT solutions
- You devise ways to make solutions scalable & future fit
- Sharing knowledge with and training less experienced colleagues
- In addition to substantive IT engineering tasks, you act as a coach of a Chapter (team) of engineering colleagues.
- You are responsible for all HR aspects associated with stimulating, motivating, and coaching the experts in your Chapter.
- As a Chapter Lead, you are responsible for the knowledge development of your employees within the ING Way-of-Work.

Engineering skills
- At least Bachelor/Master level of education
- Knowledge of, and experience with Agile/Scrum
- Knowledge of, and experience with continues delivery tools like GIT, Azure DevOps, and Azure pipeline
- Knowledge of, and experience with Risk management in a IT Bank environment
- Experience in drawing up complex business requirements from stakeholders and converting them into IT solutions
- You have a positive mindset
- You have an excellent command of English language, both verbally and in writing
