Rabobank traineeship: risk & finance

You and your future

In just 18 months, trainees will learn the fine points of Rabobank's risk and finance management inside and out. You will have the opportunity to work at four different departments within the Risk and Finance domains. In the Finance domain you will contribute to steering the bank via activities like: accounting, analyzing, reporting, and advising the business. In the Risk domain you help to ensure that we maintain a strong risk & integrity culture across areas like Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, IT Risk, Market Risk, and Climate Risk.

The program is designed to give you a broad view by offering rotations across departments. You can shape your own future! In addition to day-to-day work, trainees work on side projects and join Rabobank's young professional network in a personal development journey. A buddy system provides you with help in finding your way around the bank and joining social events. You will also receive coaching from a talent manager. After the program, trainees can start the rest of their careers in Risk, in roles such as: Risk Managers, Data Scientists, Specialists Financial Restructuring, Credit Analysts Compliance Officers, Change Coordinators, Project Managers, etc. Trainees can also start their career in the Finance domain, in roles such as: Business Controller, Project Controller, Treasury, Balance Sheet Management or External Reporting.

Examples of rotations

You might contribute to our mission 'Growing a better world together' in our Climate Risk or Regulatory Adherence teams, support our data-driven decision-making process in a Credit model department or stress test department, help prevent operational losses in our Compliance, FEC, IT Risk, or Operational Risk departments, or care for our customers in our client-focused departments Credit Approvals and Financial Restructuring and Recovery. Additionally, you could work within Control Wholesale & Rural to calculate the Finance Emissions of Rabobank or support Balance Sheet Management, External Accountability, and stakeholder management.

Your development as a young professional

To become a specialist in your professional field, in the first 18 months you will mainly attend training courses that relate directly to your specialism and support your talent development. The courses are often given by experienced colleagues or trainers with a track record. You will build your network, gain valuable experience, and develop skills which will be of use to you later in your career. We also challenge you and other young professionals and trainees to work on various cases and challenges one day a week.

You and your talent

You have a master's degree in Banking and Finance, Business Economics, Law, Business Administration or other relevant studies. IT, data-driven, and innovation skills are very welcome! You have approximately 0 to 2 years of work experience and an excellent command of the English language. You are solution-driven with a proactive attitude, and collaboration is central to your way of working. You inspire with your story and encourage others to grow.
