Banking for better, for generations to come: sustainable procurement contributes to the purpose of the bank and enables the acceleration of the transition to a sustainable economy. Together with our suppliers we can make an important contribution to alleviating pressure on the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preventing biodiversity loss, advancing respect for human rights, advancing inclusivity and stimulate the social impact of our suppliers and their supply chains.
Procurement prepares for the step up from voluntary, strategy led ambitions to implementing the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive ('CSDDD'). Part of this preparation entails analysing the bank's current sustainability supplier due diligence efforts, perform risk assessments on our supply chain and assess what is needed to comply with the upcoming legislation. This means that Procurement needs to gain insight, disclose its current sustainability efforts and strongly deliver on what is needed to comply with these upcoming due diligence requirements. Sustainable procurement has the knowledge and the mandate to tackle this task and ensure compliance.
