You have 5+ years of experience in a similar role in an accounting department which means experience in preparation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and in use of automated accounting systems, with a few years spent in a multicultural and multinational organization.
You understand the measurement, processing and communication of financial information regarding economic entities, which aims to document the organizations' resource management. You have a good understanding of how to plan and measure financial records in compliance with internal and external regulations, ensuring value for money in reaching business objectives and long term profitable growth.
We are looking for someone who is curious, open, flexible, motivated by increasing customer value and not afraid of working in a dynamic and changing environment were new processes need to be defined independently and/or within the team. You have advanced Excel skills, lookups and pivot tables have no secret for you; you can perform a wide variety of tasks, from operational recurring ones to more analytical and technical ones. You communicate clearly and confidently in Dutch and in English (spoken and written).
You are an open-minded team player, with good communication skills that help you to navigate through the different levels of the organization and build strong relationships. You enjoy working, collaborating and co-creating in a vibrant and changing multi-dimensional, multicultural and multinational environment. You are eager to learn and pro-active; you handle deadlines effectively and know how to prioritize your work.
And, you need some experience:
• Bachelor degree or relevant education in accounting and at least 5 years' equivalent work experience, preferably within Accounting and Reporting.
• Sound knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (Dutch GAAP).
• Good knowledge of, and experience with Dutch VAT filings and Corporate Income Tax structures is a requirement.
• Good understanding of Accounting and Reporting Processes.
• Experience with SAP is required and knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is considered a pre.

Your responsibilities
The General Ledger Accountant is part of the Accounting and Reporting team (currently with co-workers located in Leiden and Poznan in Poland), which in turn is part of the Group Financial Controlling team. We provide support to the three core-businesses IKEA Retail, Ingka Centres and Ingka Investments. This is done by providing Accounting support to the Ingka Holding companies as well as Ingka Services.
This support comes in the form of Accounting & Reporting services, supporting a strong compliance framework, and effective governance to enable entrepreneurship and safeguard our people, customers and businesses.
In your assignment your main responsibilities will be:
To optimally support the business by taking care of all accounting related tasks which demand specialist knowledge. Your main focus areas are automation of accounting processes, general ledger responsibility and (bi-)monthly closings and accounting compliance.
More specifically this means you will:
• Assist with month-end and year-end closings and prepare various reports;
• Review the trial balance and make necessary adjustments to correctly reflect accruals and provisions;
• Reconcile various accounts and identify errors in posting or omissions by applying appropriate accounting standards;
• Take part in the team's preparation of the transition to SAP;
• Support in the preparation of the company's Corporate Income Tax filing;
• Perform timely and accurate intercompany sales invoicing and reconciliation;
• Process accounts payable and payments transactions and ensure the follow-up;
• Respond to inquiries related to AP/AR;
• Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the processes and working routines;
• May assist in the testing and deployment of projects supporting the Accounting and Reporting function;
• Obtain and maintain up-to-date knowledge on recent accounting principles and internal business developments, and follow up on implementing and communicating necessary procedures.
