The Sales Discount Management (SDM) Team at IKEA is responsible for providing the best Web App for our IKEA coworkers who create discounts for our products and services. We have coworkers in 30 countries using SDM in various ways. We are looking for our next awesome colleague to join us in our journey to grow our product into the easiest and most productive discount management system we can.We offer an environment where curious people can explore a complex problem space and have a big influence on what we build, and how we build it.
OUR TEAM
The team is an autonomous, multi-disciplinary and creative group of people coming from different backgrounds. You have your Backenders, Fullstackers, Product Specialists and Product Owner, and maybe soon a Data Analyst.
A friendly bunch who are always willing to help, all you have to do is ask. Working together to keep code clean, as well as keeping a good and steady pace of features/value we deliver to production is the tightrope we help each other walk every day.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE
• Mentor and coach Engineers
• Lead initiatives on code quality and pointing out and driving the cleanup of tech debt
• Always have non-functional requirements in mind, e.g. Security, Architecture, Readability etc.
• Lead work from an engineering perspective, working closely with Product and UX design
• Live, breathe and spread a DevOps culture
• Spread a culture of end-to-end ownership of features/issues
• Spread knowledge and culture around mature automated testing
• Write beautiful and effective code
• Write effective and easy-to-maintain automated tests
• Review pull requests and help others write awesome code
• Code together with others (e.g. Pair programming, mob programming etc.)
• Monitor and operate our production environments
• Work on constantly improving all aspects of our work, from process and tooling to how we measure performance
• Work with the rest of the team to scope our work, exploring our problem space
• Contribute to knowledge being shared both inside and outside the team
• Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders across the organization
• Own features/issues from idea to production to operations
You should apply if you are a Full stack engineer who can tick off a few of these:
• Have excellent communication skills in English (not necessarily extroverted... Just great at communicating clearly)
• Extensive experience in developing, releasing and operating backend applications
• You are highly skilled in Kotlin, Java or a similar language
• You are skilled in Javascript (and Typescript) and comfortable with its various flavours or frameworks
• Experience in building Cloud-based applications (preferably Google Cloud Platform)
• Enjoy leading your own work
• Are comfortable exploring scale and performance problems
• Enjoy transforming teams into a fast-paced DevOps mindset that incorporates core Agile principles
