Your jobYou formulate goals and targets for your department taking into consideration the strategy of the bank. You take care of executing your own year plan as well as the Accounting year plan (OKR) together with the other Accounting department heads.
You motivate people to continuously improve our accounting processes and procedures. You are keen on keeping up with changes in rules and regulations and the impact they have on the Accounting organization and you function in this as a sparring partner of the Head of Accounting.
You are great in stakeholder management in a complex environment as you have a pivotal role between our front office stakeholders and the finance closing chain that ultimately leads to ABN AMRO's financial figures. You take care of the quality and timeliness of the figures and disclosures you deliver for the reporting units to our stakeholders.
You are member of the MT Accounting and are able to translate strategic and tactical changes into operational actions for your team. You know how to take care of a financial closing process and know how to assure reliability in our accounting and reporting processes while also contributing to changing our finance landscape (o.a. General ledger) to ensure a sustainable solution for the future.
Whilst you act as a generalist with a helicopter view, you are able to get to the bottom of things when necessary. You like the financial complexity of the products we work with and you are keen on delivering your part in bringing our performance to an even higher level of quality.
You are familiar with the complex environment that Global Markets and ALM operate in and you are a valuable contribution to the business. You participate in several business committees such as the Business Risk Committees (BRC's) as well as the KMT Global Markets. You are quick to translate current events (e.g. Economic or regulatory) into appropriate actions. You also make sure that internal controls are timely and correctly performed and documented.
To be successful, you will need knowledge of practical application of IFRS and accounting. We are keen to hear your view on this!
Working environmentThe team is part of Financial Accounting within Finance and consists of two teams; one for product control and accounting Global Markets and one for product control and accounting ALM/Treasury and a senior expert on hedge accounting. We are responsible for daily product control and the accounting of the ALM/T and Global Markets reporting units and in that respect act as a gatekeeper to ascertain correct recording of financials in the front office source systems. We ensure correct throughput into the finance accounting chain and provide the basis for monthly financial reporting to the regulator and other stakeholders. Your stakeholders are for example Reporting, Policies and Internal Control, Controlling, ALM/Treasury, finance & risk business grids and Risk management. You report to the Head of Accounting.
Your profileWe are looking for an ambitious professional who combines accounting knowledge with proven leadership skills. You listen and ask questions while challenging others. You like to dive into challenging accounting topics like e.g. Netting, fair values, and hedge accounting.
You have good communication skills and you are able to motivate and inspire the professionals you work with. Next to that you have strong stakeholder management skills and can connect to people across all levels of the organization.
Furthermore you have:
- Master in accountancy or business economics with accounting subjects
- Post-master education (RA) or comparable
- You have previous experience being in or closely advising MT's in a large corporate or financial institution
- Approx. 10 years of relevant working experience
- You master both Dutch as well as English
- Knowledge of IFRS
