Royal HaskoningDHV has various business lines, each with their own expertise. The Water & Maritime business line is an internationally oriented business line in which we work on groundbreaking and innovative projects in the Netherlands and across the globe.
Within the "Water Europe" Business Unit, we will be combining two teams and form the advisory group Water International consisting of ca. 60 staff. This team has a leading position in the water technology and climate resilience markets, targeting large-scale projects developed under various international programs. Typical projects focus on (pre-)feasibility, master planning, design and construction supervision related to amongst others flood mapping, coastal protection, water supply and sanitation, institutional development and environmental impact assessments. What you will do as Director Advisory Group Water International
As the Director Advisory Group (DAG) Water International, you will be responsible for the strategic development, commercial success, and well-being of the Advisory Group (AG). Supported by a management team of three associate directors, each leading 15-25 staff members, you will stimulate co-creation with clients and partners to develop innovative digital solutions and a new service portfolio. You will coordinate effective communication within and outside the AG to foster cooperation and create a strong identity for the group.
In this role, you will ensure focused market growth by connecting teams within the AG and beyond, while staying ahead of technology developments, market trends, and competitor moves. You will lead the development of the AG strategy and enable the associate directors to implement it successfully. Reporting to the Business Unit Director (DBU) of Water Europe, you will be part of the Business Unit Management Team (MT), which includes six other DAGs.
Where you will work
Our Advisory Group Water International is a newly formed team, combining two international groups within the company. With approximately 60 staff members, we collaborate on integrated projects focused on water technology and climate resilience. Our clients include international financial institutions (IFIs) such as the World Bank, ADB, Invest International, and RVO, as well as fund managers and contractors. We work on a broad range of projects at various stages of development, often partnering with colleagues in overseas offices and local strategic partners. Our operations are based in the Netherlands, with main offices in Amersfoort, Rotterdam (moving to Delft in 2025), and Nijmegen.
What you bring
Your focus within this role will be on the following key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Financial Performance
: Provide overall leadership to develop, communicate, execute, and sustain strategic initiatives in alignment with RHDHV's Stronger25 Strategy. Ensure the achievement of monthly and annual financial targets in sales, revenues, and operating profit.Collaboration and Sales Growth
: Foster close collaboration with different Advisory Groups and across business lines. Grow the sales funnel, professionalize account management, and manage proposals, project results, and client satisfaction.Resource Management and Team Formation
: Oversee staff resourcing, ensuring efficient capacity utilization across business lines and international borders. Lead team formation to meet market requirements, including recruitment, resource, and succession planning.Staff Development and Training
: Ensure the completion of development reviews, plan and follow up on training, share knowledge, and encourage staff to reach their full potential.

We are looking for candidates with the following requirements:
Educational Background and Language Proficiency
: Hold an MSc or BSc degree, preferably in water technology or climate resilience. Fluent in English and Dutch.Professional Experience and Skills
: Possess over 10 years of experience in managing teams and/or international projects, specifically in (pre-)feasibility studies, master planning, design, or construction supervision related to water engineering and consultancy projects.Work Flexibility and Mobility
: Willingness to work in offices located in Amersfoort, Nijmegen, and Rotterdam (moving to Delft in 2025), and to travel abroad occasionally.
