As an IT Platform Engineer Databases, you will develop and manage ABN AMRO's target platforms, enabling application teams to easily develop and manage their software. You will have in-depth knowledge of one of the platforms within ABN AMRO and understand various products provided by external vendors on the platform.
You will be part of an Agile team (consisting of internal employees and vendor resources, often based in India) and report to the Product Owner for Databases. You will independently work on the team's user stories and participate in all team activities, such as stand-ups and sprint planning, to maintain transparency in your progress.
Your workYou will be primarily involved in delivering the Oracle platform based on Exadata Cloud@Customer:
- Review the current platform, propose improvements, and execute those proposals.
- Ensure a secure and stable platform that can be quickly adapted to the needs of application teams or regulatory requirements (including implementing new features).
- Deliver an end-to-end integrated platform, including service management, monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, and security (audit, risk, vulnerability, etc.).
- Develop and align lifecycle management plans.
You will work within the Platforms & Technology division, specifically in the Private Infrastructure Platforms department. This department is responsible for ABN AMRO's central IT infrastructure, including Mainframe, Networks, Distributed Systems, and Middleware/Databases. As a Platform Engineer for Databases, you have demonstrable, up-to-date technical knowledge of the team's scope of products and general IT knowledge. You continuously work on your development, making you more multi-skilled and keeping your knowledge of new techniques and methods current, which you apply effectively and efficiently.
You take ownership of the quality of your focus area and are prepared to ensure quality and continuity 24/7 when necessary. You embody the principle of "You build it, you run it" in practice and ensure the team adheres to standards and design principles. You contribute proactively to improvements in products, processes, and services while keeping risks in mind and respecting relevant rules and procedures.
Specialized Knowledge- Extensive knowledge and experience as an Oracle DBA, including Oracle RAC and Data Guard.
- Experience planning and executing database upgrades, migrations, and patches.
- Experience in writing and reviewing technical designs in accordance with ABN AMRO standards and IT architecture guidelines.
- Expertise in monitoring and optimizing databases.
- Knowledge of database security, including user management, access control, and auditing.
- Experience developing and maintaining backup and recovery strategies.
- Skill in implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Ability to troubleshoot database-related issues and develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and provide 24/7 support for critical production databases.
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI): Familiarity with OCI services and cloud-based database management.
- Oracle Golden Gate: Experience with real-time data integration and replication using Oracle Golden Gate.
- Automation: Experience with automating database management tasks, using tools like Ansible or Terraform.
- Database Security: Knowledge of advanced database security practices, including encryption, auditing, and vulnerability management.
- The gross monthly salary displayed at the top of the page is based on a 36-hour workweek, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
- The benefit budget is 11% of your salary. If you don't make purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop during the month, one-twelfth of the budget will be paid out for that month.
- Five weeks of vacation per year, with the option to buy up to four extra weeks annually.
