ING os looking for an IT Chapter Lead / Engineering Manager who will build and improve our Order Manager platform in the Payments Order Manager Area within Payment and Settlement Service organisation. You will lead a chapter of engineers in the Netherlands and offshore (India and Manila). Together with the other chapter leads you will look for the best ways to deliver fast and high-quality Services. As an IT Chapter Lead, you are a senior engineer, and you are seen by colleagues as a go-to person. Along with the IT Area Lead and your fellow IT Chapter Leads you to set the standards for software development in your area of expertise. You have not only a strong drive to constantly keep your own expertise up to speed, but also want to make an active contribution to the development of the people in your chapter and your area.
You are an energetic Chapter Lead with expertise in engineering, people management, and affinity with building critical applications. You are a Senior Dev Engineer, and this will be your role in the squad for 60% of your time. The remaining 40% you spend on building up expertise in your chapter, helping the IT Area Lead with his vision and strategy, and developing your chapter members.
The people in your chapter are equally ambitious as you, and you like to transfer your expertise to them and feel satisfaction from coaching (both professionally and personally) your colleagues. The team
You will work in the dynamic and challenging environment of Payments. We operate according to a Scrum development process with two-week sprints and strongly believe in the DevOps approach to delivering IT solutions. We strive to have the high-quality mission-critical software delivered in time using iterative development with regular milestone reviews with stakeholders following the ING's agile way of working to reduce surprises in what we build.
The Order Manager consist of the following capabilities :
- Building internal and external APIs;
- Creating orders for execution and routing them to the payment engine;
- Warehousing orders until they are executed;
- Tracking the status during the entire life-cycle of an order;
- Reporting the status of an order through direct and assisted channels.
Roles and responsibilities
You will be working on a state-of-the-art new Order Manager As A Platform (OMaaP) with two critical order manager applications.
You have:
- Experience in Java 17, REST JAX-RS, Spring Boot, Spring frameworks such as Spring Batch and Spring Security;
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery using tools such as AzureDevOps, Git, Maven;
- Experience in Site Realibility Engineering (SRE) and Platform engineering;
- Good understanting on REST API's and JSON is crucial;
- Good understanding of Relational vs NoSQL
- Preferred additional knowledge on Payments domain;
- Strong people management and coaching skills;
- Experience and thorough understanding of E2E testing (JUnit, Gatling, Karate)
- Experience and thorough understanding of continuous delivery, deployment tools, and pipelines are highly desirable;
- Ability to balance operations and development activities and available for fixing issues and guiding your colleagues with incidents;
- A passion for operations to keep the IT Area's systems compliant, reliable, and run smoothly;
- Strong interest and vision in recent trends in software development and technology in general. We see the IT Chapter Leads as senior engineers who carve the path of ING Bank's transformation;
- Great analytical skills and conceptual/architectural understanding, ability to learn new technical concepts fast;
- Ability to constantly balance the pressure of (IT Risk) targets of the teams you oversee and the quality of the software they deliver;
- Experience in Agile / Scrum / DevOps methodologies;
