GDIT has an exciting opportunity for a Network Administrator to support U.S. Army Europe as a member of our EMITS program team in Brunssum Netherlands.
The Network Administrator provides operations and maintenance support for all data, voice and video communications networks. This includes, but not limited to O&M services and management of the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) and deliver and sustain essential NIPR, SIPR, Voice, Helpdesk, VTC, Cyber Security/Information Assurance, TA/ETA, NetOPS, Local Service Requests (LSR), Warranty Repairs, network management, and systems administration services across the site in support of the enterprise. The Network Engineer works closely with the Site Lead the entire support team to provide the full range of network engineering support for the site and all associated
customers, stakeholders, and information consumers.
HOW A NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Responsible for the operations and maintenance of VoIP equipment.
Ensures that backbone devices are IAVA compliant and to assist in troubleshooting of network deficiencies.
Responsible for the physical infrastructure of the Local Area
Network to include necessary cabling required.
Assists in the configuring and troubleshooting of network devices and the resolution of customer computer issues, including help desk functions, (such as resolving Microsoft Office problems or other software when required.
Performs the duties of a COMSEC Hand Receipt Holder; handling keying material and devices in accordance with applicable regulations.
Works closely with the OSP/ISP Network Specialist to assist with Inside Plant, Outside Plant, Cabling, and Trenching services.
Assists the OSP/ISP Network Specialist with OSP/ISP cable plant troubleshooting, repair, fabrication, and installation to include,
copper/fiber, patch panels, MDFs, CAT 5/6, RJ-11, RJ-45 terminations, and perform necessary fiber optic, media converters, copper/fiber modems, UPS installation/repair/troubleshooting procedures.
Understands and can install cabling and equipment in accordance with DoD TEMPEST standards, Army guide 3.15 General Cable Specifications, NSTISSI protective distribution system (PDS) installation guideline.
Test cable for signal quality, degradation, throughput, continuity, and availability.
Terminate and splice both copper and fiber optic cable.
Maintains technical proficiency and ensures applicable certifications are kept current and up-to-date with the technology being implemented.
Performs other duties and assignments as required.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: BA/BS (or equivalent experience)
Experience: 8+ years of experience.
Security Clearance Required: Must possess (upon applying) a US Secret (SSBI) Security Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI as required.
Skills: Hands-on networking experience in one or more (Cisco, Junos, NSX-T); VoIP and VTC experience desired; Knowledge and experience with Microsoft's Active Directory structure, desktop configuration and maintenance, and ancillary peripherals and servers are required; The Network Engineer needs to be proficient with installation, configuration, and management of network devices to include routers, switches, and ancillary network devices and networking software as part of the Local and Wide Area Network; Knowledge of TACLANE and other cryptographic devices to include configuration, key management, and troubleshooting are essential; Knowledge and experience of routing, switching, and current Cisco networking software (most current versions of Cisco IOS) are essential.
Cetrification: A CCNA/CCNP certificate that has been obtained in the last 24 months is required. Must be IAT Level II Compliant (i.e. Security+ CE or equivalent certification)
