Job Description
Eurofins TMFI performs legally valid forensic DNA testing. We are looking for an intern to help us to compare different kits for Y-chromosomal DNA investigation including rapid mutating Y for optimal application in forensic casework and database loading.
During this internship, you will have the opportunity to:
- Gain experience in setting up your own project;
- Develop your analytical skills by executing your project in alignment with your predeveloped plan;
- To work in a dynamic and progressive environment.
The activities that will be performed are
- Mock samples preparation (single source and female/male mixture)
- mPCR
- Capillary Electrophoresis
- Genotyping analysis with GeneMapper
- DNA extraction and qPCR, if needed according to the project/validation plan.
Qualifications
As already inferred from the job description: we are looking for a master intern with:
- A WO life sciences education with an interest in Biology or Forensic Research;
- Strong analytical skills (experience with projects is a pre);
- A proactive attitude and a hands-on mentality;
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Good knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
