Senior Accountant / Financial Account Manager (Amsterdam)
For our client, an international trust company in Amsterdam we are looking for a Senior Accountant/ financial account manager. Our client is a highly regarded provider of trust, fund and corporate services for private clients, entrepreneurs, and family-owned businesses. Tasks
The Senior Financial Account Manager (SFAM) forms part of the Corporate Expansion Services team. The SFAM will work closely with other financial and legal account managers to exceed our clients’ expectations continuously. The SFAM will manage the financial activities concerning a diverse client portfolio and oversee a wide range of administrative and financial responsibilities of our growing portfolio. Additionally, the SFAM is expected to continuously develop personally and professionally, deliver added value to our Corporate Expansion Services, and contribute to the further growth of our office.
Main responsibilities:
- Managing a client portfolio and being the first point of contact for our clients, client’s accountants, and (tax) advisers regarding all financial and tax responsibilities;
- Client relationship management by maintaining long-term relationships with the client’s operational staff and participating in and supporting the preparation of client meetings;
- Administration of special purpose vehicles, including but not limited to, preparation and review of monthly and quarterly reports, including analysis of variances, cash flows, and working capital reports;
- Responsible for closing of accounts including reviewing accounts prepared by the property managers before completion of SPV level closing;
- Preparation of VAT and CIT fillings in collaboration with external advisers;
- Preparation and review of statutory annual financial statements (Dutch GAAP/ IFRS);
- Managing local audit process and resolving audit queries to ensure that audits are completed on time and within budget;
- Management of bank accounts and execution of client payments;
- Maintaining an organized planning of work to ensure timely and accurate filing of administrative records;
- Mentor, train and motivate junior and medior financial account managers and act as sounding board;
- Proactive participation in board meetings (i.e., presentation and clarification of annual accounts);
- Perform miscellaneous finance and administrative tasks appropriate to the role and business requirements; and
- Actively sharing financial and accounting knowledge (cross border: with the international offices of the company
Requirements
The ideal candidate has a hands-on, proactive approach and has demonstrated capabilities in effective leadership and managing client relationships. As an SFAM, you will manage ad hoc activities in addition to your daily work. In this position, you need to prioritize what is important, have an independent work mentality, and be able to deal with stress. You are proactive, know what you are capable of, possess good communication skills, and are not afraid to ask questions.
Other relevant qualifications for this profile:
- Bachelor or master’s degree in business administration, accounting, or an equivalent;
- A minimum of five years of relevant work experience;
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (Dutch GAAP/ IFRS);
- Fluent in English (both orally and in writing);
- Outstanding organizational, analytical, and leadership skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Self-motivated and aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving;
- Able to work independently and as a part of a team; and
- Demonstrable work experience with accounting software.
