Role Summary
The Chief Architecture is responsible for the strategic planning and architecture design of End-to-End Enterprise Architecture (EA) for Payment & Settlement Services (PSS). The role will engage directly with PSS products, operations & tech and hierarchical report to Head of Tech of PSS.
This role will lead Enterprise Architecture practices and governance, and ensure the design, implementation, and maintenance of PSS Enterprise Reference Architecture blueprint within each services domain. The role is accountable for leading and developing the architecture practice across PSS in collaboration with ING Global, including all enterprise and solution architects via direct and matrixed reporting lines. The Chief Architecture will act as an evangelist - leading the way on the technology roadmap and responsible for ensuring Group EA architecture standards and principles for solutions relative to PSS are maintained and updated. The role will also have accountability for the Architectural Review Board and structuring the end-to-end processes.
The Chief Architecture will have proven experience in working and leading teams across Agile methodologies. They will have a track record of successfully working within complex organizational environments and be abreast of Banking consumer and enterprise customer journeys. They will possess deep understanding of banking technologies and roadmaps to navigate through industry complexities. This individual will also require exceptional communication and influencing skills along with the ability to work collaboratively with executive stakeholders and external technology partners.
Responsibilities
Blueprint & Solution Design
- Lead the Enterprise Architecture function for PSS along with the Lead Architects in key service domains and develop an architecture governance framework.
- Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of reference architecture and target architecture blueprint and roadmap for PSS.
- Resolve conflict of design across all architecture domains, and drive consistency, reusability, and completeness of architecture.
- Evaluate sample solution designs, design criteria and checklists for acceptance of solutions, and resolve solution conflicts.
- Set KPIs and targets for solution design (e.g. Architectural complexity, coverage of micro services architecture).
- Setting a clear architectural direction for transforming towards the highly digital, extreme customer focused and very cost-efficient bank we are transforming towards.
- Creating a high performing culture to help reduce the technical debt and accelerate the simplification of the landscape.
- Developing the craftmanship of your team via the chapter structure.
- Defining roadmaps at different horizons (2 and 3) by making explicit what the key dependencies are.
- Creating synergy among stakeholders to actively steer to the target architecture.
- Defining target architecture for PSS; implement and sustain the initiatives in the Tech strategy.
- Stimulating global interaction and collaboration across architects in the different locations and countries; creating synergy among team members to increase the efficiency and productivity.
- Support definition of short-term activities and dependencies in the quarterly business review for the tribes of the country.
- Guiding and supporting the changes to the IT landscape
Architecture Standards & Principles
- Develop, maintain, and continuously refresh architecture standards, policies and principles in an Agile environment.
- Ensure architecture services and tools (e.g. API and micro services catalogue) are provided to developers
- Define processes to identify and adopt new technologies and application innovations and make these standard across PSS.
- Lead best practices and uplift capability across the PSS Architecture community. Ensure Solution Architects across PSS are adhering to standards via the Community of Practice lead Business Alignment & Risk Management
- Collaborate with businesses to keep enterprise architecture current, and evangelize innovation.
- Lead PSS within the MT EA, ISB, TSB discussions
