What will you do
Our climate is changing, from increasing temperatures and shifting precipitation patterns, to rising sea levels and more frequent and severe weather events. Alongside this, the global economy is embarking on a low carbon transition. At Royal HaskoningDHV, we help governments, businesses, and communities plan for, and adapt to these changes. We also support clients to navigate the uncertainties of a low-carbon transition, identifying climate-related risks, and developing strategies to build resilience to emerging shocks and stresses.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Senior Project Manager and Business developer Climate Change and Resilience, with special focus on Early Warning Systems and Operational systems to join our growing team within The Netherlands. You'll work within a multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of projects across multiple sectors (maritime, water, built environment, land use, energy, and transport). This is an opportunity to help support the delivery of climate change services in a fast moving, client focused environment on the following topics:
- Climate change Multi Hazard and Risk Assessments and mapping
- Impact based Flash Flood Early Warning System
- Developing and managing of operational systems
- Digital solutions in Water management

What you bring
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering/Water Management/Hydrology or related;
- Around 10-20 years of relevant work experience;
- Proven working experience in flooding modelling / Water management / Flood Early Warning and data management, digital solutions, preferably in International projects;
- Proven experience in multidisciplinary International projects: consultancy, project management, writing of proposals;
- Strong reporting and communication skills, at least in English and Dutch.
- Well able to inspire and lead younger professional colleagues;
- Good sense for business development and demonstrated capabilities to develop a strong external network and contacts Internationally;
- Commercially sensitive and focused on optimizing business results;
- Collaborative approach and enthusiasm in working together with colleagues and clients abroad;
- Stress resilient and flexible, willing to travel abroad regularly (short term missions).
Preferably you would also have:
- A master's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field;
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Highly motivated and conscientious with the ability to deliver work to the highest standards;
- Team and client focused and able to collaborate in a multi-discipline multi-geography environment;
- Identifying opportunities and preparing successful proposals to win work;
- Strong project management skills.
