About the Role
The store auditor reviews controls at company operated restaurants by reviewing operations, assessing the effectiveness of controls to reduce risks and identifying opportunities to streamline controls and improve accountability of cash and stock, leading internal fraud investigations and partnering with operations leadership teams to develop understanding of risks and controls.
This is a new role and offers a unique opportunity to shape this function and improve risk resiliency in our restaurants. You will report directly to the Risk and Compliance Manager and you will be part of the Group Risk and Compliance team and have regular contact with your counterpart in Australia.
Key responsibilities
- Review cash and stock transactions to identify anomalies, unusual trends, problematic areas/issues.
- Using expertise and analytical ability work with restaurant team to understand underlying root cause of different issues, anomalies, performing reconciliations, inspection of computer records, documents, cash/stock counts, etc to determine problems and work with the site team to resolve the issue(s) found.
- Inspect building and all property for hazards and safety issues using past experience and judgement.
- Enforce company policies on security of assets.
- Educate Area Coaches, RGMs and team members in asset, cash and inventory control processes.
- Prepare detailed reports and analysis on recommended control improvements.
- Communicate clear accurate results and any issues or areas of opportunity to Operations as well as the store manager.
- Escalate systemic issues causing variance or blockers and see them through resolution.
- Assist with new accounting procedures and implementation in the field.
- Report and communicate control findings, including trends and closure of management actions to the Operations leadership team.
- Actively promote and implement risk management policies and procedures and investigate possible breaches and non-adherence to store compliance.
- Collaborate and work in conjunction with the store team to improve loss prevention control awareness and execution.
- Support with incident investigations by reviewing CCTV, analysis of shrinkage trends and outliers in the loss prevention dashboard.
- You have at least a Bachelor's degree (preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting and or Internal Auditing).
- Understanding of accounting or store management operations
- Must have strong organizational and teamwork skills plus ability to focus on detailed issues.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills of complex issues
- Independence and self-initiative, with the ability to independently assess organizational processes, identify bottlenecks, and advise management on policy development.
- Forward thinking with regards to new digital tools and processes for efficiency
- Meets customer needs by ensuring a deep understanding of the expected service and delivering to that expectation.
- Exhibits strong communications (verbal and written) skills capable of managing a variety of assignments to tight timelines (multi-tasking)
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English
- Competent in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
