You play a crucial role in setting up, implementing and maintaining a Centre of Excellence for Trade Compliance and Customs, overarching the brands and plants - the various import and export entities in EU, in accordance with international standards, legislation and regulations. Your role is key is ensuring that all aspects of Pon.Bike's international trade activities are conducted in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations. By smoothing the trade compliance processes in our organization and in our supply chain we prevent interruptions in supply chains due to trade laws.
- Staying up-to-date with changes in trade regulations and ensuring Pon.Bike's practices adhere to these laws, such as customs regulations, export controls, and sanctions.
- Developing, updating and implementing internal policies and procedures to maintain compliance with changing laws and regulations. Develop and drive implementation of Trade standards. Make sure that the standards are available in the Pon.Bike Template.
- Create a community of Pon.Bike's Trade compliance related people to strengthen best practice and info exchange.
- Identifying potential areas of trade compliance risk and developing risk management strategies to avoid costly fines and legal penalties.
- Providing training and guidance to local Management and Experts on compliance matters, ensuring that all employees are aware of and understand the relevant trade laws and regulations.
- Organizing and conducting internal audits of trade activities to ensure compliance and preparing necessary reports for regulatory bodies.
- Advising senior management on the potential impact of regulatory changes on the Pon.Bike business and trade activities.
- Overseeing the implementation and management of trade compliance software and systems to streamline processes and maintain accurate records.
- Working closely with other departments, such as legal, finance, and logistics, to ensure a cohesive approach to trade compliance.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for interactions with customs and other regulatory authorities for Pon.Bike.
- Maintains the relationship with Pon Holdings, mainly Tax (Customs, VAT and Transfer Pricing), Treasury (e.g., guarantees), Legal and Compliance (e.g., new trade compliance regulations).
The Trade Compliance and Customs Director EU leads the CoE and consists of the participation of a selection of the Local Trade Compliance Experts from the organizations within the cluster of Pon.Bike. The Director reports to the CFO Pon.Bike Operations and has regular contact with the Tax department of Pon Holdings.
Wat vragen we van jou
- A master's degree (tax law, economics, accounting, MBA).
- 10+ years of experience in an international/multinational environment in trade and customs compliance.
- Experience to work in matrix organization with an excellent understanding of Customs and its connection with supply chain in a broader perspective (from sourcing to delivering).
- Strong analytical, innovation and fact-based problem-solving skills with an end-to-end mindset.
- People management experience.
- Master the English and Dutch language.
- Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate a diverse and remote team.
- Ability to analyze data and trends to inform decision-making.
- Proficiency in identifying problems and implementing effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate quality standards and expectations across different levels of the organization and with external partners.
- A keen eye for detail to identify potential issues before they become larger problems.
- Strong project management skills to oversee multiple quality initiatives simultaneously.
- Expertise and knowledge required to manage, analyze, and make informed decisions about financial figures.
- Familiarity with the Trade Compliance landscape affecting the bicycle industry globally.
- Hands-on attitude, willingness to access new challenges, and openness to changes in priorities.
- This job requests approximately 25% of the time traveling (mainly Europe, with the focus on The Netherlands and Germany).
