The role As a Tender Engineer Electrical & Automation at Damen Naval’s Proposals department, you will design electrical and automation systems for advanced naval vessels. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative solutions that meet regulatory requirements and enhance our commercial proposals. In this role, you frequently travel between our Vlissingen and Schiedam offices.
Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Assist in preliminary equipment selection and budget allocation through requirements analysis and drafting engineering specifications.
Define general system architectures, including Single Line Diagrams and Automation Architectures, along with electrical load balances and propulsion system configurations.
Evaluate designs against requirements and prepare detailed reports.
Write technical documents, contract specifications, and reports, clearly communicating complex concepts to customers and subcontractors.
Participate in discussions on technical and commercial aspects with customers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Support cost evaluations by subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal departments to optimize project outcomes.
Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
3+ years in electrical design, preferably in complex manufacturing (maritime/tender) projects.
Strong writing skills for detailed and compelling technical content.
Commercial mindset to create viable and appealing forecasts.
Bachelor's or master's in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
Excellent command of English, both written and verbal; Dutch preferred, willingness to learn Dutch required.
Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
