Our Controls Project Engineer works with the project manager, project team, customer and suppliers to deliver complete and safe controls electrical and fluid hardware design. Just as software design, parts ordering, commissioning, and support buyoff. Specifically overseeing the overall process as well as the more detailed aspects within the assigned project for the VDL Steelweld offices throughout the United States and reports to the General Manager of VDL Steelweld USA, headquartered in Troy, Michigan. The Project Engineer of the US works in close contact with VDL Steelweld headquartered in the Netherlands regarding global sourcing and project execution.
- Duties include;
- Study, analyze, and discuss the assignment with project team members, suppliers and end customer;
- Making energy consumption calculations;
- Making cable and electrical cabinet heat calculations;
- Setting up system architecture concepts;
- Taking care of all technical project information involves own discipline belonging or he technical construction file and customer acceptance;
- Expert review of quotes, progress and deliverables as well as record of agreements made from suppliers;
- Delivery of machines within cycle time according to cycle time diagrams, according to Project Engineer;
- Component selection for Electrical;
- Review of third-party designs;
- Monitor the content of the project, (what was sold according to what specifications);
- Identify additional training needs to the management.
Do you have the knowledge / skills/ abilities?
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Basic knowledge of pneumatics;
- Experience with project control tools;
- Problem analysis and resolution techniques;
- Customer specifications;
- Legal directives (CE/UL) and standard;
- Electrial Components up to 600VAC.
Do you have the education and experience?
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical field. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree;
- Experience with Siemens and/or Rockwell software packages and tools;
- Knowledge of various PLC, HMI and data bus systems.
