What you do as a Senior Environmental Consultant
In your role as Senior Environmental Consultant, you will assess and manage the complex web of environmental and marine ecological aspects and the multiple stakeholders, interacting in offshore wind projects worldwide. This all to contribute to the aim of ensuring responsible, sustainable, and compliant practices, while raising benefits for society. Your work has a direct impact on both the success of the project and the protection or enhancement of the surrounding marine ecosystem and environmental conditions. The services range from Feasibility Studies, (Strategic) Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, Due Diligence and tender support for offshore wind project proponents.
Within our projects, you will take the lead in guiding the client in this complex web of environmental aspects and the interest of the different stakeholders. You will guide the team of environmental and marine ecology consultants to reach effective sustainable solutions.
To do this, you will:
- Advice clients (project developers, Dutch government organizations and their consultants) on environmental and social performance;
- Work closely with public, private and non-governmental stakeholders to ensure that environmental and social aspects are integrated in the projects in an effective and feasible way;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of experts and consultants within Royal HaskoningDHV and partners. Work closely with engineers, environmental specialists, ecologists and social experts;
- Mentor team members and junior staff.

As our Senior Environmental Consultant for the offshore wind and maritime sector, you will become part of the advisory group Resilience & Maritime. This team consists of about 180 colleagues. Within the Maritime & Resilience advisory group, you will become part of the Green Ports & Energy Projects Team. This team consists of 25 people working from the Netherlands (Amersfoort and Rotterdam) and we work together with our colleagues in the UK on projects worldwide. The ruling language within this group is English.

What you bring
As a senior environmental consultant for the offshore wind sector it is evident that you have a strong interest and experience in developing and executing projects worldwide focused on environmental and social performance. That also means you are willing to travel to remote locations from time to time.
With your excellent interpersonal skills, you can effectively and independently lead environmental advisory projects in the offshore wind sector. You have experience with projects in the North Sea and working in the Dutch context with a variety of stakeholders.
Furthermore, you have:
- A Master degree in the field of environmental management or ecology.
- Proven experience (over 10 years) on environmental advisory roles within Dutch and international context.
- Knowledge of the requirements for environmental performance in offshore wind development.
- Knowledge and experience in Dutch EIA process and regulations would be an asset.
- Good writing and speaking skills in English (Dutch is a plus).
