The Hydro Mechanical CFD expert will work on the development of IHC's CFD-based hydro mechanical design process for vessels. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and improvement of the CFD-based methods to design hull shapes of all the vessel types that IHC has in its portfolio. In addition, you will perform CFD analyses yourself and also educate and guide Designers and Engineers to perform CFD analysis. You will also take the lead in the validation of prediction methods, propose full-scale measurement campaigns and will closely be involved in the execution and follow-up of such campaigns.
As CFD expert you are part of our Research & Development team in the Functional Discipline Technology. Within this team, you intensively collaborate with colleagues of the Product Market Groups Custom Dredging Vessels, Offshore Energy and Defense to achieve desired results.
To be successful in this role, you need to have shipbuilding experience. Being educated in Hydro Mechanics and having solid experience in ship design processes is a must.
As Hydro Mechanical CFD expert you will be responsible for following:
Develop and validate CFD-based hydro mechanical design methods for hull resistance and speed-power predictions
Perform CFD analyses for hull resistance, propulsion, maneuvering, dynamic positioning, etc.
Create and analyze new designs of hull shapes and propulsion systems for different types of vessels
Develop and apply hydro mechanical knowledge in the design and engineering process
Validate CFD methods and theoretical models with full-scale measurements
Troubleshooting for complex hydro mechanical problems
Develop innovative ideas and assess their feasibility
Project-related work:
Initiate new R&D projects and draw up project plans
Lead and execute R&D projects according to approved project plans
Monitor project progress, costs and results
