What’s the job about?
As the Duty Manager in the biggest conference hotel in The Hague, you’ll be the go-to person, ensuring daily operations run seamlessly and that guests receive exceptional service throughout their stay. You’ll act as the face of the hotel for guests and the key contact for staff, stepping in to resolve issues, support the team, and uphold service standards. Whether it’s handling guest feedback, supporting the front office, or coordinating with housekeeping and F&B, you’ll make sure everything runs like clockwork. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where no two days are the same, and your leadership presence sets the tone for the entire shift.
Tasks & Responsibilities
· Act as the primary point of contact for guests and staff during your shift
· Monitor all operational departments to ensure smooth coordination and guest satisfaction
· Support and guide team members, stepping in to assist during peak times or operational challenges
· Maintain effective communication with all departments, department heads and management team
· Handle and resolve guest complaints or requests in a timely and professional manner
· Conduct regular hotel walks and inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and Marriott brand standards are upheld
· Prepare and follow up on guest and VIP requests, duty reports and morning meeting daily
· You are the go to person when it comes to quality assurance
· Manage emergency procedures and handle incidents, following company protocols
· Ensure team members are aware of and adhere to current Marriott brand standards, SOP’s, and procedures
· Supervise relevant guest comments on the online platforms
· Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, and guest feedback to the appropriate departments
· Represent hotel management during evening, weekend, or holiday shifts when senior leadership is not present
You are:
As the Duty Manager, you have an open personality, who comes across as self secure and convincing. You inspire and above all you are approachable and you think out-of-the-box. Besides that we hope to find the following in our Duty Manager:
· A confident and approachable leader who thrives in a guest-facing role
· Excellent oral and written English communication skills
· Calm under pressure, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
· Service-minded, with an eye for detail and a heart for hospitality
· Adaptable and hands-on—you know how to jump in and support where needed
· A clear communicator, fluent in English and Dutch (other languages are a plus)
· Experienced in hotel operations, ideally in a supervisory or shift leader position
· Comfortable with property management systems and hotel procedures
· Flexible to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
