We have an opening for a passionate Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join our amazing new Home Imagination Platform (HIP) Domain at IKEA, located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This team will collaborate directly with the R&D team at Geomagical Labs (an IKEA company based in the USA), and be part of influential and cutting-edge 3D and AI technology development on a global, multi-million user scale.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role you will Be a hands-on backend/API developer, guiding design & development of IKEA Kreativ's platform, and systems integrations - in collaboration with the Geomagical Labs team based in California.
- Improve features, scalability, and reliability of the IKEA Kreativ platform by participating in technical & process improvements.
- Participate in scoping and designing new API features and subsystems.
- Work closely with other IKEA service teams to design, build, and develop systems that scale to millions of customers around the world, and run on multiple cloud platforms.
- Participate in healthy & effective engineering practices - conduct code reviews to ensure code & architecture quality, write and review software design documents, and drive efficient and effective test automation.
- Participate in an existing on-call rotation.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- Excellent software engineer with strong Computer Science foundations
- 3+ years of experience with Python and Django web development
- 3+ years of experience with SQL (Postgres preferred)
- Experience with Celery or other background task runners
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
- Empathetic and positive collaborator
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with containers and container-based deployment
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with low-latency customer-facing applications
- Experience with DAG pipeline tools (Airflow, Dask)
