The Chemistry Specialist position involves performing routine and non-routine tasks in a regulated chemistry laboratory environment. Individuals in this role are expected to demonstrate proficiency in wet chemistry techniques, lead complex sample extractions, perform research and development (R&D) and process improvement activities, and collect data using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Ion Chromatography (IC).
• Work cross-functionally to ensure testing of client samples and reporting of results is accomplished in a timely and accurate manner.
• Assist in investigations of non-conformance reports (NCRs), laboratory process investigations (LPIs), and/or corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs).
• Maintain proficiency in laboratory and safety skills by completing regular training.
• Acquire aptitude in new analytical techniques based upon business needs.
• Perform complex extractions per company practice.
• Perform R&D activities for incoming projects and laboratory process improvements.
• Demonstrate individual proficiency in operating general laboratory equipment.
• Perform routine analysis using instruments, such as FTIR and/or IC with minimal or no assistance.
• Actively contribute to the overall operation and achievement of department goals.
• Assist in environmental monitoring services tasks and questions.
• Perform and document laboratory activities following Good Documentation Practices.
• Maintain a clean and organized laboratory area.
• Work in a team environment and/or independently, according to team needs.
• Work in compliance with applicable regulations, international standards, and internal policies and standard operating procedures.
• Perform work according to GxP, as applicable.
• Chemical technical assistant (CTA) with 3+ years of professional experience in a regulated environment.
• Experienced in operation of laboratory instrumentation.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Experience with analytical instrumentation
• Proven to be self-motivated and has strong initiative skills
• Detail oriented and independently driven
• Strong documentation skills
• Demonstrated strong troubleshooting skills
• Proficient in oral and written communication in English is required, German is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Regulated laboratory experience preferred
• Environment, Health & Safety Manager experience is a plus
