Position Overview
The Test and Validation team is taking responsibility for testing market specific Infotainment and Connect systems and services in North America by covering test and validation activities along the development process of vehicle models and services. Within this team, the Senior Validation Engineer Infotainment & Connect ensures timely resolution for all topics belonging to the field of test and validation activities, such as test specification creation, test execution, and reporting together with the team of Test Engineers and suppliers. The Senior Validation Engineer Infotainment & Connect is also responsible to Porsche Engineering Services US as the main contact and person in authority for their respective technical project which covers a specific set of Porsche models. This responsibility necessitates the capability of coordinating a team as well as staying abreast of the latest technology in development and testing/validation.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide test specifications, test results and reports as well as execute tests on Hardware-in-the-Loop systems, test benches and test cars based on Porsche test plans by coordinating a team of Test Engineers and suppliers in alignment and collaboration with test managers (from Porsche Engineering headquarter in Germany) and function development teams
- Prepare, align and coordinate specific testing along customer journeys on test benches, HILs and especially test cars, based on test plans in alignment and collaboration with test managers and function development teams
- Align with test managers regarding development milestones, Product Increment (PI) planning including deliverables, and team performance
- Coordinate and support test specification creation, manual and automated test execution, test reporting, bug ticket creation as well as requests for test infrastructure updates
- Prepare, align, and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the test activities and progress for Test Team and actively escalate to test managers, line manager, and others in terms of critical blockers and issues
- Actively support new team members and suppliers during onboarding process in terms of technical know-how, team structure, processes, and tools
- Working closely with international test coordinators in other locations as well as Porsche function development teams, suppliers, backend development teams to share project information, improve processes and enhance know-how exchange
- Support Test Drive Teams, Endurance Test Teams, and Quality Engineering Teams with support for pressing topics
- Analysis of requirement documents and technical specification to continuously improve and adapt Test specification and test requirements with your team
- Ensure the record of test activities in given systems, e. g. Atlassian Jira and Confluence and provide monthly reports to test managers
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Informatics, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
- 5 years of automotive industry experience in an engineering or related role
- 3 years of experience in leading small to midsize teams
- Strong communication skills; ability to present complex subject matter to a wide range of audiences
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
- Experience with agile software testing projects and processes
- Experience with Atlassian tool chain
- ISTQB certified
Preferred qualifications include:
- Advanced degree in Informatics, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
- Good knowledge of Infotainment and Connected Car services as well as testing and validation of such systems
- Innovative thinking, strong communication and team-working skills as well as a high affinity for delivering first-quality engineering services to the customer
- Prior experience with the German Language and Culture considered as a plus
- Ideal candidates are tenacious, persistent, well-organized, flexible to adapt to various forms of challenges, process oriented and work well within a group
The pay range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 per year.
Percentage of required travel: <5% (domestic business trips, Europe)
Schedule/Shift: 5:30,6:00am - afternoon
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable with physical exertion for 3 - 5 hour intervals
- Comfortable standing and walking for 3 - 5 hour intervals
- Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5 hours)
