Position Overview
The ADAS Test Team is taking responsibility for testing market specific Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and services in North America by covering test activities along the development process of vehicle models and services. Within this Team, the Development Engineer Advanced Driver Assistance Systems ensures timely resolution and coordinates all required testing activities regarding the relevant systems. The Development Engineers ensure a proper test and validation strategy and the coverage of all required testing scopes of ADAS functionalities in current and upcoming Porsche models within the U.S. market. The Development Engineers are updating electronic control units, software and replace different units to match the latest hardware version and maintain the measurement equipment. Additionally, they participate in the evaluation of ADAS system behavior, document corner cases, parametrization and eventually bug fixing. This responsibility necessitates the capability of coordinating an ADAS test team as well as staying abreast of the latest technology in Development and validation within Porsche.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide ready-to-use ADAS test infrastructure in-time based on Porsche test plans.
- Coordinate a team of ADAS test engineers and drivers as well as suppliers to ensure set-up, updates, and maintenance of test infrastructure in alignment and collaboration with international project managers
- Align with project manager regarding development milestones, Product Increment (PI) planning including deliverables and team performance.
- Participate in creating ADAS Test strategies and test catalogues and evaluate and document ADAS specific corner cases.
- Evaluate system behavior, support in parametrization and bug fixing, work and resolve tickets regarding the relevant systems and market specific features.
- Prepare and coordinate the execution of ADAS test activities to ensure the correct in time finish of all testing procedures.
- Update, reprogram and exchange control units in prototype vehicles or test bench setups.
- Integrate and test electronic control units for ADAS or related systems ensuring seamless functionality and performance for test purposes.
- Actively support new team members and suppliers during onboarding process in terms of technical know-how, team structure, processes, and tools.
- Working closely with international test infrastructure, integration, and commissioning team coordinators in other locations as well as Porsche testing teams, function development teams, suppliers, backend development teams to share project information, improve processes and enhance know-how exchange.
- Support test drive teams, endurance test teams, and quality engineering teams with support for pressing and frequent topics.
- Analysis of requirement documents and technical specification to continuously improve and adapt the ADAS test Infrastructure.
- Be part of the commissioning helpdesk for North American areas and assist with test infrastructure support in North America through supporting activities such as test tours and other validation trials, which may include extended travels.
- Record test infrastructure software and hardware information in given systems, e. g. Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5 years of automotive industry experience in an engineering or related role
- 3 years of experience in development and testing of electric control units for vehicles
- 3 years of experience in working with ticketing systems and error analysis
- Strong Experience with and knowledge of automotive systems and vehicle architecture within large automotive group
- Experience with associated diagnostic tools to analyze problems in vehicles
- Experience with data analysis and engineering evaluations
- Certifications to work in a high-voltage environment and vehicles
- Strong communication skills; ability to present complex subject matter to a wide range of audiences
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
- Business fluent in English and German
Preferred qualifications include:
- Advanced degree in Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Very good understanding of ADAS Systems and fuction development
- Very good knowledge of vehicle topology and bus systems (CAN, OABR, Flexray...) and communication protocols
- Experience of setting-up/commissioning of HiL systems and test benches
- Experience with Vector tool chain
- Experience of finding individual in-vehicle solutions for mounting and installing wiring harnesses and displaying devices
- Experience with prototype vehicles, camouflage and secrecy regulations
- Prior experience with the German Language and Culture considered as a plus
- Ideal candidates are tenacious, persistent, well-organized, flexible to adapt to various forms of challenges, process oriented and work well within a group
- ISTQB certifications are beneficial
The applicant will receive a salary range $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 commensurate with the candidate's experience.
Percentage of required travel: <10% (domestic business trips, Europe)
Schedule/Shift: 5:30/6:00am - Afternoon
Physical Requirements

- Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5 hours)
